# Per Player

Everything under `/wlcontrol player` affects only the players you name.

```
/wlcontrol player <player|selector> ...
```

On Paper, you can use selectors such as `@a`, `@p` or `@a[distance=..10]`. On Spigot, name the player.

## Switching things off for a player

```
/wlcontrol player Steve disable shieldstatus
/wlcontrol player Steve disablewithreason shieldstatus other-player-shields "Tournament rules"
/wlcontrol player Steve enable shieldstatus *
```

These are the player's **own** restrictions, on top of the global rule set and any rule sets in force for them.

{% hint style="info" %}
`player ... enable` only lifts restrictions given to that player **directly**. If the global rule set or another rule set turns something off, it stays off. `/wlcontrol status <player>` shows where each restriction comes from.
{% endhint %}

## Applying rule sets

```
/wlcontrol player Steve apply uhc
/wlcontrol player @a remove uhc
```

The global rule set always applies, so it can't be applied or removed per player.

## Clearing a player

```
/wlcontrol player Steve clear
```

Removes the player's own restrictions and every rule set applied to them directly. Rule sets from worlds and permissions still apply.

## When the player leaves

Per-player restrictions and applied rule sets are **not saved**. They end when the player disconnects. For restrictions that should last, use a rule set tied to a permission.
